Default Okay guys, DS650 carb and other mods.

I have a 2003 ds 650 Baja, Motor is stock but I have a full Ron woods raceing exhaust, and a pro com CDI. Please dont give me alot of crap about procom because I did not no when I bought it. It seems to work for now but will buy a better one later. I have a after market air box with two K&N filters and I run with air box lid off. I jetted the carb to a 185 main with the needle clip on the third grove, I turned the air mix screw 3 turns out after screwing it in all the way. So this is what I have, the bike dose 75.5 mph thats is as fast as it will go in a half mile. It takes a half mile to get it to that speed.

I want more with out going in to the motor and changeing things, Im thinking of buying a TM 45 HSR Mikuni with this make me faster and what type of speed do you think I will gain by this? My friend gave me a TM 40 Mikuni would this be better than what I have? Im not sure what the stock carb is on my bike and I cant seem to find it. The only thing about the TM 40 is that the cable linkage is on the left side of the carb can you make this work with out buying new cables or should I just buy the TM 45 and junk the TM 40? I want speed so I can smoke my brothers YZF 450, as it stands now I can get him in the 1/2 mile but just barly he kills me in the 1/4. Help.

Try the TM40, and if you don't like it, then get the TM45..

Stock DS carb is a 42mm. I don't know why you would want to take a step back to a smaller carb. Most go to either a TM45 or Lectron 46/48 when upgrading from stock

Default carb

Okay guys, I was told it was a 38 but after takeing carb out I found that it is a 42 dam Im mad. hate it when people tell you something and you find out they are wrong. I guess my question now is if I buy the 45 will I see a big change or sound I buy bigger than a 45? Is it worth the cost, how can I make this thing faster with out tearing into the engine?

There is a TM45 for sale in the garage thread. You will also want to get your intake ported to match the 45mm. No need to go any larger than the 45 unless your going to go into the motor later down the road. Aside from the basic boltons (pipe, carb, CDI) there is not a whole lot more you can get out of these things until you make the commitment to tear into the motor (cams, high comp piston, big bore, head porting, etc)

Default Okay

I ordered the tm 45 I was going to order the tm 48 but the guys at ron woods told me that would be to much carb for a stock motor. I will up date after I get it. I bought the TM 45 for 405.00 and the intake for 177.99 plus cable 37.50. If this dont do it Im going to cry and than apply for another credit card and make this 650's insides hurt. I like yamaha but I love can-am down with the 450's and 700 I must smoke my brother.
