Well, as expected, my son's new 2009 Renegade 500 beat my Polaris Sportsman X2. I didn't really expect it to be close but he smoked me by almost 7-8 quad lengths in a 50 yard dash. I knew he would beat me. Just didn't think it would be quite that much. Not a big deal to me. I'm glad he got a nice fast quad for his enjoyment. Must say I'm impressed with the Rene. We did the frame mod from GoHardRacing.com and I got a small rack for long trips needing a few extra gallons of gas. Oh yeah, and I stayed a lot cleaner than him. He got nice and filthy. Had a good laugh over that one. We expected that also. We'll say how it does in the mud, rocky hill climbs, and various other trail conditions we have to deal with once mud season is over and they open regular trails. This ride was only on a railtrail.

 

Don't feel bad Moose, I dragged the 850 against a Rene 500 and we ran pretty close over about 600 feet. Those things are explosive off the line! On the other hand, we pulled the other guy's Renegade out of a lake about an hour after that. It was under 6 feet of water. He got too close and slid right in. Totally swamped. There was water pouring out of everywhere on it when we winched it out. When we pushed it up on the truck, water poured out of the exhaust too. Haven't seen that guy since.

 

I imagine it will take some effort and money to get that Rene right after a full dunking. It's kind of funny, but I said, "We'll race to those orange flags over there", without thinking why they might be there. I saw him hit the brakes just as I noticed that there was a 10" deep by 4' wide stream that the flags were marking. We got good and soaked. Lots of fun.
