WTF..... front drive shaft grease
#1
I ain't no rocket scientist, but I've worked on a lot of machines and I'm very mechanically inclined. But, I can't for the life of me get my 06 outty front drive sheft greased. No matter which way I rotate the shaft. I can't get it. I've had the wheels off/jacked up....tryed from the side, bottom/ top....and it's a no go. The end of the zerk is still about 20 degrees from where it needs to be to get on it. I've also tryed my neddle tip with no luck. HELP!! this thing has me whipped, and I hate that feeling.

Well, I finally got it. I ground down another tip. I went too far again
It has a small hole that grease squrits out of. I'll have to redo another one. I also got the die grinder out and had to put a half moon relief in the front yoke as well. I'm bearly able to get on it now. But was able to keep pumping all the old grease out and get new Mobil 1 red in it.

Have you replaced the u joints with an aftermarket part?? I have the same problem. The grease fitting is a 45 and I can't find a 90 fitting with the right thread size. I have just resorted to unbolt the shaft, pull it out a little bit til it bends enough to get the grease gun on. It only takes a few minutes. Next time, I might break down and buy a can am u joint.

Bone stock. It was a lot of playing around and head scratching to get it. But, in the end what I did worked. I still need to buy another tip and regrind (a little less this time). And take a little more out of the yoke ( I removed very little here so far).

My '07 is set up exactly the same as the '06. You can get to the front U-joint zerk with a regular sized grease gun tip.
Put the bike on a lift so you can rotate the shaft, come in from the right side from above the CL of the shaft. Slowly rotate until you find the exact spot. There is one place where you can fit a standard grease gun head on the zerk - you will need a flex shaft on the gun.
