2011 vs 2010 Outlander 800 MAX XT
#1
Hi all,
Just a quick question between model years on the Outlander 800 MAX XT...
1. Any changes (improvements) to the 2011 vs the 2010?
2. If you were going to purchase...which model year would you buy?
I am interested in a purchase...and can get a 2010 for a good deal...compared to the 2011. So...want to make sure the only thing that changed...was the year.

I highly doubt there was any improvements . The only CanAm Outlander improvements I heard of was a stronger frame in 07 or 08 ,more powerful (67hp to 70hp) 800 in 08 I think and a faster reacting Visco loc front end . All of which a 2010 would have.

I also remember reading that the front-end was redesigned for better cooling on the 800. Unfortunately...not certain of the year.
So...if 2010 and 2011 are identical...I guess that makes the 2010 a better buy. Of course...if I go Can-Am.

You are getting guesses instead of infromation here. Go to Can-Am Talk or CanAmforum.com and you will get the real skinny. For one, the frames were not changed until 2011. Another is the ViscoLok, quicker every year until 2010 when power steering became available and now the QE version is almost instant lock up. Alot more changes, I just don't know all of them. Go to the other forums if you are interested.

ATV Source - Machine Reviews - 2006 - Outlander "vs." Sportsman
The Outlander turned out to be a good machine with power being the main focus on design. Yes, the machine is adequate in comfort and ride but some might want more than adequate. The frame is really the steel backbone of this ATV and we feel a slight problem. The frame should be built just a bit thicker producing a more durable backbone. Especially, since the engine is now larger and the frame has been lengthened. Also, each component is attached to the slim frame. Outward supporting structures, such as, the fender and floorboard supports are made of aluminum and are strong but bolted directly to the main frame. Positive points are the unit’s low resistance to under belly obstacles but we have dented the channel style frame on many trail obstacles. Our question is one of durability.

Looks like even the new EQ Visco lok needs some more fine tuning. YouTube - can am 2010 Visco-Lok QE That far right front wheel sure is doing alot more spinning that then front left.
I like this Polaris AWD vid also.YouTube - Polaris AWD demonstration
Thats how little rear wheel spin there is before the two front wheels engages.
