Default How to tighten chain

Yoo guys, I need some help with tightening my chain on my 04 ds650. I made the 4 bolts on the rear loose ( not completely backed out) and noticed there were two holes in the axle housing? along with two holes in the sprocket. I've gone through about 4 screw drivers, and I dont know why this thing wont tighten. I tried a smaller screw driver in the hole closest to the rear, with hopes of pushing some type of "unlocking device" , but that didnt work. and i tried time and time again in the bigger hole closest to the front. It wont tighten. I still have everything ready to be worked on im just hoping someone can explain how this is supposed to work. Thanks

If its like every other quad I've worked on, you rotate the axle carrier because it is eccentric.

You're doing it right, loosen bolts, rod through the hole in the sprocket hub and into the bearing carrier hole, then roll forward or backwards to tighten/loosen. Try a #2 Craftsman. They have a lifetime warranty and if you bend/break it you can take it back for a new one. Hit it up with some penetrating oil and let it set overnight then try rocking it back and forth with a rod or screwdriver in place.
It is an eccentric. Spray both ends of the carrier and through the gap along the back.

Hmmm for penetrating oil im gonna have to go with my intuition on this one... leading me to believe that KY > WD-40 lol

Make them bolts all the way loose, you may not be loose enough to rotate the carrier.

Well i got her to tighten...I soaked her in WD-40 (no KY) and tried it time and time again...but what did the trick was a hammer and a rod. That bad boy was jammed up or something...but its tight. hopefully I wont have to do that next time, but we';; see. Thanks for all of your help!!
