Default Renegade!

Hey boys and girls! after selling off the DS's and being in withdrawl from can-am and rotax im finally back in the game, picked up an '08 Renegade 800X with only 200 miles on 'er for only $5800! I only test rode it around the driveway and up into the truck, but she feels like shes gonna be just insane! cant wait to open this baby up.
So how many owners do we have on here? any known issues with them? or anything i should know about them right outa the gate?

Son has a 500 Renegade. Nice machine. We did the frame insert to strengthen the spar frame. Have read a bunch of stories about bent frames and it was worth the price for peace of mind. 4wd is a little slower to engage than all the other systems. Not a huge issue but kind of jerky in the rocks. 800s are known for insane power (stay off the throttle going into corners) and overheating. Keep the radiator clean. I also recommend getting the fender flares if you're going to be in mud a lot of the time. Son was happy when I installed them for Christmas last year.

They need aftermarket skid plates. Other than that you're good to go.

The X model skid plates are paper thin aluminum, about the same as unrolling a beer can and attaching it to the bottom of your ATV. Get real aftermarket skid plates whether you've got the X model or the regular model.
