Default 2004 bombardier ds650 wont run

I bought this four wheel two months ago and it needed some work. I'fe put a new starter, proconsul cdi box, new battery, stator coil, flywheels clutch, and plugs. I have spark and fuel but all it will do is back fire. The kid I got it from parked it for the winter and it just wouldn't start so I don't know why it wont run. I need help!!

If it only backfires, I would set it up at TDC and make sure the timing marks for the cams are set up correct, as well as the valve lash. Sounds like it may be way off timing, causing the back fire.

I just don't see how it could be off timing when it was just sitting. Yeah I change the magneto housing but the key way sets the time I thought.

The kid you got it from said he just parked it for the winter. That doesnt mean thats what actually happened. Not everybody is honest ecspecially when selling something. After all the parts youve put into it, why not check it out...

Was it running when you bought it?, I was looking at timing in case the former owner was messing with it, although you have replaced the stator, is it an adjustable timing plate type set up? some stators need to be set up a certain way, and you have installed a new starter......wild thought...is it spinning the right way? sounds goofy, I know, but I have seen starters wound wrong so the spun the opposite way.

Well the kid I got it from is one of my good friends but ill still check it. No it wasn't running when I got it but that's a good idea to check the stator. Yeah the starter is turning the right way cause its turning the motor over and it would just spin freely if it was going the wrong way.
