Default ds650 lockbolt question

I think im having some timing issues on my ds650, so i made a lock bolt but im not seeing where the slot is on the crank that this lock bolt goes into. Does the magneto need to be in a certain spot when i get the motor to TBC?

-- i have a owners manual and it doesn't tell you how to do it.

The slot is at TDC. If you shine a flashlight in to the hole while you rotate the crank you will see it. Be sure to remove one of your spark plugs to aid in turning the crank with an allen wrench.

Take a close look at the diaphram on the top of the carburetor

ive checked it, it looked fine no rips or anything the atv is extremely hard to start hot or cold, have to choke it and hold the gas wide open and it will eventually start, it will hit try to start but wont happen sometimes i will get lucky and it will start on the 3 or 4th crank but usually takes about 15.

I would check the valve gaps. Sounds like you may be tight.

1 intake being off can do it.If its tight then its leaking enough compression to keep from starting.prolly backfiring into carb as well.i know old post just in case people are snooping around the forum with questions..lol
