DS 650 turbo?
#2
Many have been done. Search the forums. The info is there. Avoid the turbo at all cost. Do a conversion instead. GSXR 1000 seems to be the weapon of choice as it's lighter and more balanced than the Busa 1300.
Only one DS owner has professed to having a working turbo but we've never seen it in person out in the dunes. Usually when you have something that others want you are willing to let those take a peek at it. I'm thinking it doesn't exist.
I've spent many days down at Glamis where this imaginary turbo DS claims to play and have yet to run in to it. And we aren't hard to spot in a crowd.

Here's another video. This one shows it a lot closer. I made the video before adding the works shocks, skid plate, dual rear axle bearings, and steering stabilizer.

no. I've built several for other people.. I built this one for myself.. I used to use it on the trails here once in a while. I haven't ridden it since I messed up my back.. I start it once in a while and let it run, so the carbs don't get gummed up, and the battery stays charged.

I have a DS650 EFI Turbo since 2005. Running 7lbs boost on Avgas with 85 rear wheel HP & 54 ftlbs of torque. Built & maintained by Kelly at KMS Performance in Phoenix Az.
Runs great, very dependable. Only problem was when a $1 relay failed. Put a new relay in it & was good to go.
This is my dune bike and I actually ride it in the dunes. I don't waste time at the hill or drags. You won't see it at Glamis as I go to Ogilby Tower or Buttercup dunes.
I'll be at Buttercup dunes the weekend of March 15th if anyone wants to see it go. I'm at the dunes about 4-5 week trips a year and a few 'guy' weekend trips.
The turbo system is so well integrated and works well that most people don't realize the bike it turbo'ed until I point it out to them.
I have a bad back as well and I bought a Funco sand rail as my primary ride. I'm thinking of selling the Turbo DS650. I have over $18000 in it. I have a whole laundry list of mods....everything from a larger radiator to external oil cooler to 400+ watt stater, 6 HIDs, Elka Elites, PRP stabilizer, etc... heck I just put $600 24" 9 blade paddles on it....
I'll never get close to my build price so unless I got a reasonable offer I'll just keep it and ride it once or twice each dune trip. At least its all paid for by now.
I attached a photo. The turbo is at the left front side of the engine with a piper running back under the left side of the seat to the intercooler.
