I am thinking about getting a outlander 1000 xt. i have been on a Yamaha Grizz 700 since 2007. pros and cons on this machine please! I know the power is crazy!

 

throttle is way too responsive imo. would be very easy to hit a bump or something and accidentaly jam the throttle and end up with the thing on top of you

 

It's a monster but don't let anyone talk you out of it if it's what you want. My brother just got a renegade and it's crazy fast for its size and weight. Can't think of many cons. BRP makes quality products and uses top notch parts. Coming off a grizzly, I don't think you will find too many complaints. The front end can become light under throttle which leads to under steer. That seems to be my brothers only real complaint so far. Makes it difficult to do doughnuts sometimes. I have a 08 outty 650 as well and reliability has been great.

 

arctic cat would be worth a look too. the mud pro is pretty impressive and is about the same price

 

X2 It is a monster, power-wise. In high gear, if you have the traction, it will lift the front end with ease (800 does too). It's just a matter of learning how to feather the throttle on take off or going into corners. As HondaR24 said you can lighten the front end up enough if you blip the throttle in a corner that you have little to no steering. Again, it's just a matter of knowing when to hit it, and when to let off. Was out this past Saturday with a group of 11 quads. 2-3 were Can-Am 100-'s, couple were 800's, and mine with the 650. Rest were a mix of others. One thing that amazed me is that the 1000 is pretty quiet.

On doing doughnuts the trick is to get your weight as close to the handlebars as you can so the rear is really light. Then, hold on.

 

Get the 1k and dont look back and never wonder what if i had gotten it!

 

I've noticed all the new can ams are much quiter than the previous generation. Less chassis/ frame noise also but they still have their creeks and rattles lol

 

I will never deny that...while this is my first canam, it has just as many odd noises as my previous polaris....but if you crack that throttle the noise starts to disapear!

 

On our rough 20 to 30 mph trails there is no place a 1000 ATV could leave a 300 ATV behind.

I,d get a big bore ATV if 70mph riding on wide smooth gravel roads was my thing but on those kind of roads my pick up can handle with air conditioning and a stereo playing.

 

thanks for all the in put! I decided on a 800 xt!!!!! picked it up yesterday and rode 30 miles last night! I am totally impressed with it so far! I cant get the smile off my face! plenty fast for what I am doing.

Any tips on this quad would be great!
