Default Looking to buy my first ATV. Suggestions?

Good evening all. Need some help with buying my first ATV.

The family land is 80 acres of woodland in Michigan and im looking for a ATV to enjoy it. But im not sure on what to get. All i know it has to be 4wd.

Like i said, this will be my first ATV. I have rode before but never owned. My father bought a 2013 grizzly 700 last year and i would like something alittle more exciting to cut up the trails with. The grizzly in a very nice machine. My father put a wench, a big storage box on the back, and got the snow plow. This thing is a work horse. But im looking for more play then work.

Im leaning towards the 2014 Can-am Renegade 500. But My father wants me to get another 700 Grizzly. What do you think?

He paid almost 10grand last year for his Grizzly with all the upgrades. And i got a quote of 7,600 thousand for the Renegade 500. Im liking that price lol

What do you think? Any suggestions? Any other ATV comparable to the Renegade that i should know about?

Thanks for you time.

If it's your money you should call the shots, purchase-wise. I've been on a lot of quads from 110 cc all the way up to the 800 class machines. By far, my favorite 4wd for a fun ride is the Renegade 500. Plenty of power but not as prone to lightening the front end as the 800 and 1000 are. Gets great gas mileage and my son has been through every mud hole that bigger machines with more aggressive tires have. Not really a work machine but it will do anything most any other 4wd will.

If you need to get them there are racks available from Can-Am and on eBay. We got one from eBay for the rear. Just enough for a days ride.

I think the 650 Can Am motor is one of the best. Its rated at 60hp vs 45hp of most motors of that sizes.
The 500 is a bit small of a displacement to be a twin cylinder and the 800 to me is overkill in power and expensive for me.

Its to bad Can Am does not make a Renegade 650. It would be perfect bang for buck.

Can Am has a new 450cc single rated at 38hp in their new Side by Side that may end up in the Outlander as well.
Can Am sure is the power per cc king.

My daughter bought a rene 500 this year, no she doesnt weigh 200lbs, but i rode it and it seemed to have plenty of power. She was on a budget and the 800 was just out of her range, a 650 might have fit.

So far she really likes the 500 rene it seems to do everything she wanted.

The dealer said for the type of riding I do the 500 would be more suitable for my use. I ride in the woods on tight trials. He said the 800r had alot of power and i would have a hard time keeping the front tiers on the ground.

Was just saying to my son that I thought Can-Am should put the 650 in the Renegade. Would be perfect in my mind.

That is the drawback of the 800 and 1000 cc Renegade. If you're in a corner you've got to be careful with the throttle. A little too much and the front end lightens enough that you don't get much bite to steer through it.
