Well, it really depends.

How mechanically inclined are you? It could be a simple fix, or it could turn out to be a complicated wiring issue. If it turns out to be the latter, I'd also ask how patient are you. Electrical stuff can be very frustrating. And not knowing what your tool box looks like, you may have to spend some money on tools.

Let's do the easy thing first. Take your battery to auto zone or a parts store that can test it. If that's good, we'll move on from there.

Well actually I'm not 18 but I'm close enough to it I'm 11 but I have been collecting tools and I have patience but my moms car isn't working and I can't take my battery there is there a way I could test it with a voltmeter

Put a volt meter on it and let us know what you get.

There's one thing about it I don't know what to put the voltmeter like set it to

set the voltmeter to read up to 20 volts DC.
black lead on the negative (-)side and red on (+)side of battery.
need more than 11 VDC (Volts Direct Current).

no need to remove the battery...just put meter leads on post of battery

is it a dry cell (sealed) or wet battery?
