There are racks available for the Renegade but the rear isn't made for the kind of weight a passenger would add. My son has given rides to friends on smooth rail-trail kinds of places but I wouldn't recommend it.

Are you talking about those storage compartments that go on the rear rack? Those aren't 2-up seats. It might even say so on the product itself, if not in the instruction manual or product description.

I'm talking about a 2 up seat not the racks.

Generally speaking, one up machines do not have the wheelbase to support a second passenger. Typically the second passenger is positioned over the rear axle which makes the machine more prone to rollovers. On flat terrain, at slower speeds, probably be ok but if you're on public trails and run into the law, they may cite you since the placards for not carrying passengers are pretty visible. 2-ups have longer wheelbases to accommodate a second passenger. They also have passenger foot pegs and probably beefier axles.

Can you post a link to the 2-up seat you're talking about?

My 350 Grizzly had the passenger seat with the rear foot peg option. so a larger Renegade should do ok. But you need a rear rack to bolt it on to.

That's what I thought the OP meant. I've seen people use these all the time to carry passengers. They are nifty and pretty cool looking.

yeah that's exactly what I'm looking at. Is that not called a 2 up seat?

I've never seen a manufacturer call these 2-up seats. I've seen them called "loungers" though meaning they are for the driver (or someone else) to lounge on while the machine is at rest. People use them as 2-up seats all the time though. I've never actually seen anyone roll up and over while using one of these but I have seen hunters roll their machines over when they try to haul their deer out on their rear rack on inclined terrain, without adding any weight to their front rack. I would think the same physics would apply.

I hope everyone in here knows that you're not supposed to haul a 2nd passenger on ANY one-up machine. But everyone has done it anyway, myself included. Yes the machine won't handle well but if you go slow and the terrain is easy as in no off-camber stuff or steep hills you should be ok. It helps if one or both of you aren't very heavy. You're going to max out your suspension with 2 250lb riders but a 180 lb rider and his 120 lb wife or gf would be ok.
