Guys,
I went to put on different handgrips this week-end. I wish I would have read the past posts on this subject. After doing a search I found it's quite a surprise to find what I did!
What I'm talking about is this. I went a cut off the left side handgrip. It was tough to cut because of a plastic liner under it.
What I found after cutting it off is that the handgrips on a DS are actually screwed on at the ends of the handlebars!!! The problem also is it has a funny notch to fit.
So I put washers on the screw to take up the space & installed my Renthal grips. The problem is the ends feel soft because of the weird designed handlebars. I looked on the Sea-Doo watercraft page. They sell the same exact handgrips as the originals. So I'm just going to go to my local Sea-Doo dealer & buy the stock replacement that way they feel solid. Here are some questions then......
(1) Does anyone know if Sea-Doo sells more than one type of stock replacement grip, like a firm & soft version?
(2) Has anyone tried to machine a spacer that would be that weird shape & take up the gap?
(3) Is there a good handlebar out there I could buy? I really like they size & style of the stock DS bars, so I don't want to change & go to a totally different bar.
(4) Any other ideas?
Thanks...

I took a piece of wood dowel and shaved it down to fit the end of the bar. It worked fine. You will also find the most grips are slightly longer than the stock ones, you will need to loosen and slide your control toward the center of the bars. No need to replace the bars.
