If someone could provide me with tire size, gearing, high-gear ratio and primary reduction of a DS 650, I can figure out the top speed for you. Actually, anyone can do it themselves with a piece of paper and pencil.

Does anyone know this stuff?

WOW LT5001987, u can factor in all that on paper! amazing, especially the loss of speed from AIR FRICTION.

Alright if you really want to go there, my degree is in Aerospace Engineering. I have no way to prove that to any of you (nor do I care to) so you will just have to take my word for it. If you make some assumptions (read: estimates) of drag (parasite, induced, etc.) you can come up with some reasonable equations that will provide you with the top speed of a DS650. These equations could indeed be worked out on paper with a pencil.

What I was suggesting before would just give a top speed based in an environment where the atmosphere was really nonexistent. I apologize for any confusion. If roostina10lbbike is going to get snotty about it and play "who's more macho" then I bow out as I don't play that. All I come to these forums for is to share information and learn a thing or two. If no one wants my input than I won't come anymore.

This and most other tops speed posts really, really make me wonder if I am the only ATV rider on the planet that owns a GPS.

66.2 RWHP[dyno proven] gets me 86 MPH though the speed traps at LVMS. This is with a 17 tooth countershaft sprocket, stock rear sprocket, and 22" Holeshot XCT's.

Don't sweat it LT500, no matter what someone says, there will be those that don't believe it. Regardless of factual basis. Your input is always welcome by most of us. By the way, I could get you the transmission final gear ratio, but don't know the don't know the countershaft reduction ratio. What information would you need to calculate drag coefficient? I bet it's terrible.

we did the calculations a while back in this forum for top speed with different counter and rear sprockets, here are the various ratios you'll need to determine top speed in any given gear.
primary gear reduction 2.76
1st 2.75
2nd 1.75
3rd 1.31
4th 1.05
5th .088
we did not take into consideration drag created by friction of any kind ( tires, wind, or an extra large posterior)knock yourself out!

Drag aside, here is what I come up with

22"tires, 8500RPM, 17/42 gearing (I don't know DS650 stock rear sprocket), and using the stuff from Majorecho's post above:
top speed is 92.66mph.

Like I said I don't know the stock rear gear of a DS650. Also I don't know how high it will rev. Anyone else?
