while talking to a dealer, he said there is nothing in the works for a new DS. He said they where mainly cought up in the 650 quest. but thought that maybe a full time four-wheel 650 sport would be on the way in years to come. On a different note, somebody told me that the 2000 ds had some problems that were cured with the 2001. Has anyone heard, my dealer says no, but he really wants to sell me a hold over 2000. $5500 for 2000 and $6000 for 2001. what do you guys think?

Everyone would quit their bitching.
I don't think there is a difference between the two models (2000-2001). He might be cutting the price on the older one, because many people would not consider buying the older model DS just for that reason, (a year older)even though there is no difference between the two.
I know they do not plan to use this motor in any 4-wheeler any time soon, it's application to snowmobiles makes an interesting concept.
With the race between the manufacturers to build the biggest quad,(Polaris just released 700cc in-line twin) I thought that a 1500cc 4-wheeler would be cool, no matter how ridiculus it may be. The Quest has a lot to live up to now. Bombardier seems to be getting it in the shorts if you go by what magazine reviews say. I'm sure the Quest will be rated low, compaired to the Grizzly 660 (Just another big Blaster) Kawasaki 650 (way cool) and the new ride from Polaris. (no matter how many cylinders it has, it's still a Polaris.)

There are a list of differences between 2000 and 2001 DS650's. I hope the dealer does ALL the updates, even the ones that there isn't a recall for.

What kind of changes? I know there was a carburation update, but that was mainly for machines riding at higher elevations, being at sea level, it did not affect me. That's the only change I knew about.

A list of the changes is in this thread (scroll down to bottom of the thread): 2000 vs. 2001 DS650

There is a fan update as well.
