ds 650 how reliable is this machine?

I would go whit the ds over the 400ex because the ds has more power, But my choice would be a Raptor, its juste the best quad out there, I have driven both the raptor and the 400ex, and the raptor was the one that was better, so you should go whit the ds over the 400ex, but dont forget the king of quads the Raptor!!!!

I usaly go up to Bigelo Mn, 25 miles straight north of sheldon. There is a small sand pit up there. Sometimes I go to a place south of Spencer. Other than that it is prety boring around here. Next spring there is suposed to be a new atv park opening up buy Estervile abought an hour from here. Where aboughts are you from?

My DS has been the model of reliability, It has only needed,
Crank
Head Resurfacing
Rings
Valve Job
Tranny Overhaul
Main Bearings
Fan
But all in all I think I got an abused race bike and will be selling it to buy a new one, that's how much I like it.

mintychip,
I would say you are the exception and not the rule. I have not heard of all these type things before and I would say you either got one hell of a lemon or abused the hell out of the machine.
It sounds like you bought it used and if so, I would venture to say that the previous owner was not up on maintenace.

Don't get me wrong.....I love my DS now BUT I for one had one of the few motors that blew after only 20 hours on the motor and just 2 months out of the 6 month warranty. Bombardier took NO interest in the motor or helping me with repairs. Only after MANY, MANY post in this forum and the support and replys from the members in this forum did I recieve ANY support from Bombardier and even that was minimal. Bombardier also NEVER took the motor to dissect it to find the problem. The motor was well maintained up to the point it blew for the tune of $3,500 by the way. I admit the bike is bullet proof BUT sometimes a few bad problems slip through the system and the manufacturer should take an interest in finding out the problem and take responsibility for it. I am now happy with my DS but Bombardier customer service leaves something to be desired, they were very arrogant and rude and of little help. I for one will NOT buy another Bombarier product and will wait patiently for a 650cc Honda sport bike.
