I really like the Tach and extra lights that are available from Bombardier, but they seem a bit spendy for what they are. As I am on a budget, I would like to know if anyone has purchased an Autometer tach and modded it appropriately for a thumper and done the install. Also, it seems that somebody with a small "fab" shop could design and mass produce some light brackets that attach via the top shock mounting bolt....this would allow you to use any aftermarket lights you wanted. Any body have any input?

jeffnrivercity posted some scaned pages from bombers catalog here the catalog calls out the price for the tach at $130, in contrast a lot of us here have paid $225 to Ron Wood racing for the same unit, bomber is selling the dual 35 watt halogen light setup for $110 and the wireing harness is included (I don't think the switch and wireing will handle doubleing the wattage), I'm not sure not sure if an after market company could do better. The problem with aftermarket parts is there just aren't enough DS's out there, not a large enough customer pool, as compared to hondas or yammies so most of the people who are making stuff for it are DS owners themselves, I will ask my riding buddy if he could make up the light shrouds (he ownes a welding shop) but he's busy right now and I already have a aluminum project for him for the DS which I'll hopefully be able to get started with in a week, (waiting on material)

I ordered and cancelled the tach after the dealer told me the price was $230 for the Bombardier unit. I called Bombardier and they said the $129 part number was no longer valid, the new part number had a price of $230. We've just been screwed. Again.
