Need for V ?
#1
Need some V paddles the last two trips have showed me the down side of straight paddles. I went out with glamisds650 and kends groups. The riders of both groups are lots faster than what I have been use too. I thank all you guys for putting up with this slow old rider. It is the turns that get too me. I would fall back about 1/2 to 2 bike lengths per turn because I would have to let off the gas to make the turn. Then there is that one turn that would cause the paddles to push me over the wrong side of the dune. You all went right I went left. Buy the time I got back up on top you all were two or three dunes over if I did see you at all. Too go fast thought the dunes you need V paddles!

Cal:
Where do you usually go (Pismo, Sand Mt.?)
I have the Sand Sharks and I have been interested in trying the straight paddles. It would be fun to hook up and trade tires for a day.
Sand Mt. is closer to me but, still quite a drive.

If you do that swap for the day, don't rate all v-paddles by the way the Sand Sharks perform. These have to be, far and away, the worst performing paddle tire on the market. I rate their performance right below a brand new dirt tire.
What sort of straight paddle do you have? I have 22" Edge, v-paddles, and love them. I have been thinking about going to a straight paddle though, since many people like to brag about how close they stay to me in a drag race, discounting the tire difference[and my considerable heft].

Sorry Mark I live down in the San Diego area those is very long drive for me. But thanks for the invite. Don they are STU Padla Brats with a stagger cut and I am keeping them. I am going to have them comp gut to remove the extra rubber and make them lighter. I am looking at the STU mini Desert Track with the comp cut like mike330R has and the 22 Edges like yours.

CALDS650,
I got some tires in the same 'breed' as what Mike330R has except for the straight vs. V paddle style. The STU Sand Skate I 21x12x10 (they measure a TRUE 21" tall) with the competition groove on 10" wide rims. They weren't cheap but they do perform as Joe from Fullerton Sand Sports and Mark from STU said they would. I would recommend these to anyone looking for excellent V paddles. The easiest way I could tell they were better was take-offs. I tried Kenda Trakker 20x12x9's and I couldn't hardly take off from a stop on level sand. With these new tires I can take off from a dead stop uphill or wherever I feel like.
