I totally agree that the 703 is really moving out at the top end, but being a drag race, we are on a fixed course, where Elapsed time, not top speed, is the determining factor. Simply put, on this day ,the fixed course (oldsmobile hill) allowed a piped banshee(similar to 85% of the banshees out there, mines not special) to post a Quicker Elapsed time than the Faster Top Speed DS-703. Trust me, I didnt hit a "brick wall" and decide to get out of the throttle before I was beat, I was 50 feet from the top with 3 bike length lead, I could have stayed in it and only won by 1 bike length, but a win is a win.. As we all know, drag racing is not just throttle and hang on, especially when in the whoops, youve got to be able to put the power to the ground. To this end, I say, sure I dont have the HP. of the 703, but getting my 350 cc's tuned as best I can, setting the suspension to the course being raced, and gearing for a quicker ET as opposed to a faster top end(I run a 12 tooth counter shaft sprocket with 22 inch haulers) allowed me to overcome any HP. advantage the 703 obviously has... I will say that Vegas650 has a strong Ds there, and I think that once he becomes more familiar with his setup and learns to tweak it "at the races" he will probably be coming out on top more often, but its all about learning and having fun! I think Sand45 should be especially proud, his stock DS runs really well, must be a Wednesday built machine!!!!

How much for a 703 kit on top of a new DS purchase?

Roost King, I admit you got the best of me that day. I am already working on my rear shock set up. Most people I know that have seen the videos tell me that was my problem. I'm hoping to meet up with Raptor720 and King Raptor sometime after Pres. day. I'll let you know when so I can get a rematch.

Vegas650,
Im not sure I will want a rematch when you get your rear suspension dialed in!!! Like I said, the 703 is a strong runner and you definetely have something to be proud of! Unless I get this trike that I am looking at(drag racer only) I am going to be in the market for a 4 stroke. Im glad to see people getting the power out of the big bores, you know its there, it just takes developement by people like Knutz and tweaking by people like Vegas650 to get it sorted out..

Anyhow, I had a great time and hope we can all hook up again!

vegas650, what gearing and paddle tires were you running? It looked like you could have had too little paddle.

Yea, I'm convinced I need more. Anyway I've got a 16/41 set up. Tires are STU Padlla Brats. That's 21 inch 9 paddles. BUT some of my paddles are well worn. I'm on my second year with them. I'm looking at going to 10 paddle Haulers when these die.

I thank Al for going down there and representing for me, he did a great job. Those videos are some great advertizing for me. Next year we can go down together, and his bike will be even faster. Who knows what I will bring, but I will make it serious.

You had best buy that man a 12er of bud for all that free representation.
