I am just wondering what you DS guys are running for oil?
I am coming up on my first oil change and want to run the best oil I can get. I also want an oil I can run in my DS and my raptor.
I have seen that some run amsoil, is this the best oil to run?
I did do a search and only came up with one question like this and it looked as if amsoil was the one reccommended.
Knutz, which oil do you use and reccommend?
Thanks

I've used Hondaline HP4 10w40 for many years and love it. I've played with many different oils, even had some sponsorships that gave me other oil for free, but preferred the Hondaline. It's a semi-synthetic, and the clutch still works great with it. Sometimes, a full synthetic will cause you clutch to slip, other times, it may cause the clutch to feel less progressive[or feel like it's "grabbing"], so I try to stay away from full synthetics on wet clutch aplications.
I also like the way the transmission feels with this oil. Shifting is as smooth as the gear box will allow.
Last but not least, I've torn into many motors that run this oil, and never seen any unusual wear in any of them.
This is not to say that this is the only oil that works this well, but this is the oil I'm most comfortable with. I'm currently running a couple of other oils in some of my motors and will let people know what I find when I tear into them.

Maxima. i've thought about using Redline like Marky. I even know the guy that distributes here in Vegas, but I like to change my oil after each weekend. I tend to abuse my engine a bit. So I just can't justify paying that much kind of money.

I use Maxima as well, it's pretty good stuff. I liked it well enough that I bought a 5 gallon container so I don't have to get nickel and dimed to death buying a quart for $5/each.

I talked to the parts guy at my dealer, and he said he'd talk to the Maxima rep when he came into their shop. The rep came in a week or two later, he called and told me it'd be $70 so I said hook me up. I can see if there is a part number on it if you'd like.
