How difficult is it to.....
#1
I was wondering if it is reallyhard to install the following. I am looking into a high comp piston, clutch springs, valve springs, cams, and NOS. NOS I am not as worried about as I am the rest. Any input would be welcome. I am pretty mechanical but have never really tore into quad motors.

Demon, I have not torn into a quad or any motorcycle engine before, but I have rebuilt a couple of car engines and I would be willing to help you out if you like.
I have a pretty mechanical background, although I do not do it for a living anymore, I enjoy it as a hobby.
If you need any help I would love to lend a hand. I figure I could learn a thing or two.
I ran out and did a little test ride today and the baja is running real good. My only problem is hitting that rev limiter. It revs so much faster now, that I am constantly bouncing off that thing.
I need a new cdi. Soon........

Glamis, Let us all know how it comes along.
Bat, thanks man, it sounds like we have about the same experience in motors so it would be a learning experience for the both of us. I'm not sure when and how many of these I am going to do, I just don't know if the cams would be worth it, for instance. I had a freind here that put cams in his Raptor and he could hardly even tell the difference. The one thing I could help you with is your CDI. I could put one in it for you with no splicing, peice of cake. The only thing I have to do to mine right now is put in a whole new headlight. I dont know how it got broke but the whole back of it is busted in. Got me? As far as riding, I have talked to a few pwople that went out and they said that the sand was really had because it frozen about 2 inches down. I am thinking about trying to go out there in a few weeks. If it is froze I will just leave the regular tires on it so I dont tear up my paddles. If it stays warm we could hit some of the areas around town there. some of them look really cool actualy. We could even go hit the track if we wanted.

well, i finished the stage 2 kit and took it out to glamis. (after properly breaking it in). I loved it!!! the powerband is much smoother now. where i was bogging down on the hills before - no problem now. I am using TRICK octane boost with no pinging effects whatsoever. so, you will not need to buy the expensive race gas (TRICK octane boost costs about $1.00 extra per gallon of gas)
p.s. if you do this yourself. DO NOT torque the headbolts to 44 lbs as listed in the manual. damage will occur. (learned this the hard way). Ron Woods Racing recommends 30 ft lbs.
