Hey, I just purchased a DS and love it. Time to change the oil and was wondering how much it takes. Fist change and like to know if it takes a little more or little less than the break in oil? Thanks..

Haha funny you asked. I just changed the oil, plugs and air filter on mine this morning. it was a 3 hour job. The oil change makes a big mess, you will get oil everywhere. The air filter was no biggie, changing out the plugs, the "second plug" took me almost 20 mins alone. that SOB was so tight and its so hard to reach it because of no room to work. I love my bike and usually love wrenching on them , but today kicked my ****.

Jimbostew, The trick to not making such a mess is to use a paper plate, cut and bent just right to direct the flow of oil from the tank into your pan. I found a small funnel laying around that works perfect if its squeezed into an oval and shoved into place. The rear plug just requires a 1" extension on the socket to remove. Changing oil still takes a while but but it doesn't have to be such a mess.

Hey jimbo... I picked up a spare tool kit for $1 at the swap meet just for the plug socket. I cut it in half, drilled four holes and now the plug change takes seconds. I'm working on a compression "T" to put in the oil line under the radiator so I can have a remote drain and no mess!

Later!
