my buddy is going to get 22" realtors for his 2001 DS and i heard that you cant put 22" tires on a DS or they will rub the boot gaurds is this true if so is there any way to take the boot gaurds off and still hold the fenders up
thanks

I was talking to one of the guys at Fullerton Sand Sports earlier this week and he mentioned having to shave off the small part of the boot cup that sticks back (you can tell right away which part when you look at it) to allow free ride for 22" tires and above. Now, that was for my '00 DS, not sure if they changed it for '01 or the Baja. G'Luck!

Diamond G Racing makes aluminum powder coated heel guards for the DS that will let 23" clear no matter how high you jump. Drop them a line www.atvfun@msn.com or 714 299 3865

NeoSirfir,

I cut that part off of my heelguards, if you cut it right it looks like it came that way from the factory. I cut mine just OK and it looks great as long as you don't stare at it. I'd tell you how I cut mine, but it didn't turn out perfect so you will want to try something better. Other than trimming that, 22" tires are no problem. I feel they fit the machine better mand make it look a lot better.

I have the Diamond G Racing heal guards and they look great. They are very easy too install and are stronger support for the rear fenders. You will pick up about 1.25 too 1.5 inches of more tire clearance

Diamond G? I'll have to check those out. BTW when I went to the Dunes last, I noticed on the jumps that my paddles would rub the stock heel guards so I just killed the quad, jumped off and pulled and bent back the wire frame that holds them in place. It did the trick and they didn't rub again...

I have 22 inch Holeshots and they do NOT rub even on hard jumps.
