DUMONT- anybody know early results?
#3
Well I'm back early. Unfortunatly I had a bad weekend. First I had my lower oil line blow off and by the time I realized the oil light was on , it was too late. knutz is talking about bearings. Second while riding my wifes 465 I never saw an upcoming Witch's Eye and jumped across it(abuot 30 ft down) and landed on the up sloap. She still has stock suspension. Anyway my head hit the handlebars and everyone that saw me was convinced I had a broken nose, including the medics. 5 hours later back home even the doctor at the hospital was convinced and had to get a second person to read the x-rays because it's not broke. Boy is it ugly.
As far as everyone else goes SAND45 had a blast as usual. Knutz ran well, I'll let him say how he did cause I don't quite remember. I believe he beat one of the Sparks Raptors. They had two. Batout of hell made the trip and was especially loving the weather untill the wind showed up.
I will have pictures on my site by the end of the day. I have videos but don't want to bother Jeff to run them although I will ask him to post a couple of Knutz racing on one of the smaller hills.

Vegas,
I got home last night and unfortunately never made it back to your camp Saturday night (was beat from riding)... I did talk to Knutz for a while at comp and was sorry to hear about your DS, I was looking forward to seeing you ride. Knutz definitely made an excellent showing at the hill all weekend, first time I was up against him (and didn't know it), was just amazed at this black and purple blur way out in front (sigh, guess I'll be talking to him more to get ready for Sand Mountain - )
It was definitely a blast to see all the 650's on the dunes this year compared to last year...I was surprised at our massive numbers! It was also great to meet everyone from the forum (Knutz, Sand45, JSsDS, Batoutahell and some others I can't remember). The one thing that I did learn from talking to all the other owners is that everyone has a different opinion on what makes this machine run fast...and they are (mostly) all right. Some do gearing, some work on the airflow, some on top end work, some on the bottom end, tire size, cooling, weight reduction, suspension...WOW! Trying to combine everyone's tricks, tips and mods into one bike might be a little much, but it looks like it's up to each rider on how much they want to invest in time and money to get the performance. Personally, I don't ride enough (yet) to make mods to internal parts, so I'm sticking with airflow, carb (Knutz, can't wait for your new breather results), gearing, and probably clutch springs (I had a little problem with slippage I think..thanks Sand45 for the suggestions).
Well, I've been rambling enough for this post, again it was great meeting everyone and I can't wait till next time we all get together. The forum is great, but I'd rather exercise my DS on the ground than my fingers on the keyboard
