If you could stuff another engine in the ds what would you choose? For the price of the pammi760 5000 plus you could buy a crotch rocket used motor, any dirt bike ktm etc. Buy a new ds for 5500, sell the brand new unused engine for ???? Have a fast, fast quad for well under 10K. When the weather is cold i get bored. What are your thoughts.

I think a Hemi 340 or 440 would smoke! But knowing my Raptor buddies as I do, they'll pull their 660's and drop in a 454 w/ a 6 pack on top just to see if they can take over as King of the Hill! Yes, 440 would be my chosen motor!

Well I would put in a Raptor motor!LOL,LOL(j/k). Its funny you asked, because on my way back from the dunes today Me and my brother were dicussing that very subject. Anyways I would want a motor that was'nt much heavier and still had lots of torque, So my choice would be a V-twin out of a Ducati,Buell,TLR,or something like that.

I think if I were going to go to the trouble and expense, I would look at some kind of snowmobile powerplant. Maybe a two stroke 700 or 800 or maybe some gsxr motor. I saw a gsxr 1100 (I think) with a turbo in some mini rails, maybe something like that. That would most likely cure my need for speed.

I wonder if you could put some kind of jet engine in a quad frame. That would be cool especially at night. Afterburner

It would be nice if the factories would produce a limited number of 125 horse quads for us chosen few.

it would be possible to put a small turbine motor in a quad, a couple years ago someone(don't remember name) that specialized in turbine jet boats put one in a motorcycle frame.

How about a very small lightweight rotary motor like a Mazda RX-7, but on a smaller scale. Those motors haul.
Or maybe the 345V-8 out of my 4WD IH truck. Not fast, but pulls grain wagons good

Just to twist things around, what would you put your DS motor in? I'd put mine (and I'm going to) in a www.houser-racing.com chassis.

I have to agree with bat with the snowmobile engine. I've seen them (snowmobiles) in the paper for $1500 and they have excelent power-to-weight ratio.
The bomb chassis is too heavy though and a lighter quad can be had for less $$ but now I'm getting away from the point

My nephew put a cr500 in his ds and it works really well.It fit nice and looks real good.He loves the power that it has,and the weight difference.
