Hey knutz, I heard from someone that you were working on an aftermarket reverse gear for the DS650. Is this true, and if so, how long till it's avaliable.

 

This has got to be a joke.....

 

There is a reverse system available in Europe for the DS. I looked into bringing it here to the states, and realized it's not worth it. It is basicly an electric motor that mounts on the swing arm and drives the axle. It weighs about 25lbs. and would cost at least $1500. Not worth it? that's what I thought.

 

Who is it in Europe that is looking to buy such a thing, at such an extreme price. They certainly wouldn't make it if there was zero demand (though I can't imagine the demand being high.) Did the manufacturer tell you who his primary market was? Europeans are kinda weird...

in mainland europe the DS is used for fun on the black stuff as well as 'off-road', and to use any quad 'on the road' in Switzerland it needs reverse ...... so the Swiss importer has 'created' the reverse kit ......[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

That answers it. If all I had to do was pay $1500 to add reverse to my DS and I could ride it on the street it'ed be done in a heartbeat. Now I'm jealous, I'd love to ride my DS to and from work. Wouldn't that be great, running the DS through Hollywood!
