i am looking to shift the front to rear weight ratio to the back of the quad. i would to make it easier to lift the front end. would a set of +1 a-arms and front carbon fiber rims due the trick. i read somewhere that knutz makes a set. is this true? how much of a difference would it make?

If you want to get the front end up very easy get +1 forward A-arms and a -1 swing arm. The A-arms will save you about 7 lbs up front and the swing arm about 11lbs in the rear. Kuntz sells the American Star A-arms. ATVsport in Nov 2001 did a article on this subject.

The ATVSport project DS ended up sucking in the weight bias dept. The weight shaved off the front was counteracted by the weight shaved off in the rear (11 pound lighter swingarm, which required the shock to be revalved of course), and the closing paragraph of the article said its back to the drawing board. Later this year, they should have a part 2 out, that may have some interesting ideas to expand on this subject, hopefully.

<< Is it possible to get a set of +1 forward A-arms without also having them be +1 wider? And just as importantly, is it possible to use these A-arms without ending up with a squeak monster? Everyone I have talked to with aftermarket A-arms has complained about the incessant squeaking racket that the aftermarket A-arm bushings make.

I would definitely be interested in purchasing a set of +1 forward A-arms if I could get them in stock width, with bushings that don't squeak.

Saint,
another trick that makes it easier to keep the front end of your DS 650 up where it belongs when riding rough terrain, is to soften up the compression damping on the rear shock. With the stock rear shock set at the standard setting it is all but impossible to carry the front end like you need to over big sand whoops. If you set the rear shock compression damping one or two clicks softer than stock though, it suddenly becomes really easy to carry the front end across those same sand whoops.

The arms from Knutz are fully adjustable, even the width, if you adjusted them all the way in it would be at stock width, And 1" foward.
They are a very nice product.

The -1 swingarm will take care of your problem. I should have mine in a couple weeks.
