Being a self admitted "gearhead", I always wondered why the ATV aftermarket didn't design ignition boxes with adjustable rev limiters like they have for race cars. I'd like to raise the limit on my DS, but all of the current aftermarket CDI boxes do away with the limiter entirely. Having gotten off a Honda and onto a DS, I still miss shift 1-2 from time to time, and appreciate having the limiter there. I know the DS will make power past the current limiter, but I don't want to completely lose the limiter and have a simple slip-up gernade my motor. With that said, I was surprized to see an add for MSD in Dirtwheels. It showed a box for a 400ex that was just what I was thinking of. Adjustable limiter w/ holeshot control! Now I just have to hope they will soon make one for a DS....

I'm pretty sure that Graydon Pro-line makes one that limits it too 9300rpm or something around that? Maybe some of the more experienced will throw in there 2 cents.

I have the Graydon-proline rev box. It rev's too 9300 rpm. When i first bought my rev box Graydon also had one that you could adjust to a number of diffrent peak rev's. I think it discontinued now.

How does the Graydon compare to the Woods & Pami boxes? I know they are "unlimited" but do they change the power curve any? Lets say you were going to shift before the 9300 limit of the Graydon anyway, would the Pami be any better power wise or would the just be the same but one has the safety of a limit?

Woods and Pami advance the timing 5-degrees. I don't believe the Alba or Gradon units do.

I am interested in the power curves of these two units as well.

Hmmm, I didn't know about the one Graydon had. Isn't 9,300 a pretty big jump for a stock motor? Where does the powercurve drop off at? I may call and see if MSD has anything that will work on a DS. If not, I'll put Graydon's box on my "to do list". Also, the MSD unit had adjustable timing, which I thought was neat too. Thanks for the input

9300 is the same rev limit that the f650 BMW bike uses. It has the same motor as the ds. Just some more info.

Will a CDI box off of a BMW f650 hook right up to the DS? If so are they cheaper to buy from BMW? Just a thought.
