chain noise?
#1
I have this noise, that sounds kind of like the chain flopping around or transmission noise.
It only happens when coming up to a stop and I pull in the clutch.
I have my haulers on right now, and they kind of jerk the bike around, I am wondering if that could be it. I may swap out my tires and see if it still does it.
I did install pami springs in the clutch, maybe something with that. But I cant guess what.
any suggestions?

I had a problem with my cam chain tensioner and at lower RPMS and idle the chain was really noisy. I replaced it and it sounds much better. Perhaps low oil pressure would also cause it but that doesn't sound like what you are describing. If your chain was flapping around you would hear it constantly - so I would tend to rule that one out. Since the noise is only happening when you clutch in I would look more carefully at the cluch. Did you recently put in the pami springs? where you having similar problems befor the pami install? Could it just be a clutch adjustment issue? Sounds to me like something is not engaging or disengaging correctly , some of the other guys have reported similar problems and some part was not seated correctly- it's been awhile since I replaced my springs but I'll be tearing the whole clutch out tomorrow so I'll look for possibilities.

Hey Major, thanks. how is your project coming along?
On the noise issue, I put the rear end up on a block and ran the bike and no noise. I clutch it and no noise. I think the paddles bouncing around might be what is making the noise. I only really notice it on harder surfaces. My drive way is gravel and is pretty hard and it does it. Last time we camped at oasis and that was the first time I noticed it, but there is a lot more hard pack around oasis then where I have camped before.
Anyway, I think it might just be the bouncing up and down of the tires, but maybe something else is the culprit.
I am going to change back to the nobbies and run it down the street and see if it still does it.
I will update in a little bit.

Wow that was fun.
Update: I changed the tires to my nobbies and noise is gone, it must be the paddles grabbing and releasing or something like that, that pulls against the chain or something.
Anyway, I am glad it was not anything like clutch or trans.
I am soooooo looking forward to riding this next weekend at little sahara.
I think I am picking up my toy hauler monday.
