Carburetor question
#1
While I was at LS this past weekend ,DSmike asked me about the clear hose that rises the slide on the stock carburetor. Mine is just laying loose, after I went to a Carbmount filter. I never realy gave it much thought because my quad always has run pretty good, but can I some how attach it to the carbmount filter?

Put a filter on the end of that hose or cover it with panty hose,It tends to draw air when the choke is out...If there is debri in the hose it will suck it up.
I made this mistake in a sand storm.......should I tell you any more.(it cost me the carb)
I used a larger outerwear on the carb mount filter and have it stuffed into the outerwear(took a little sewing to get the outerwear to seal around the hose)

Jeff, thanks for the reply. I have another question for you though, The slid rises when you BLOW into the hose,Right? So how can I make it to were the filter is not sucking on it and therefore maybe causing my slide not to open up all the way.

Good question,
I never noticed the slide rise when I blew on it,I did blow on it while it was running and the idle kicked up,so that makes sense.
I wonder if having my hose next to the filter is hurting my performance?
You wouldn't think so,because in stock form the hose pokes into the intake tube between the filter and carb......so it would see some vacuum.

Jeff i'm really puzzled But maybe the it was using the velocity of the intake boot to blow into the hose, therefore opening the slid.
I don't know, But I can't help but think that my slid is not opening all the way, and I'm loosing some top end. I say this because I never hit my REV limiter in 4th & 5th.

I here ya,it doesn't seem right to just leave the hose flopping around.
They must have put it into the intake tube for some reason?(some kind of vacuum control?)
You know or they would have put it into the box or snorkel tube.. ............hmmmmmm

I was told by RWR that this clear hose is only a vent, and won't effect performance being disconnected and having its own filter. The carb slide opens from vacuum above the diaphram (so I'm told), and blowing on the clear hose while running would be helping this vacuum, thereby increasing idle speed, but I'm not sure how the vacuum gets above the diaphram - now I'm curious and gonna have to look.
I think its in the intake boot for emmissions control, like they had the crankcase breather jammed into one of the intake snorkels from factory.
