I went for a ride on Sunday a noticed a little problem. When I went to shut off the DS it would continue to run for a couple of seconds and then it would have a little backfire out of the pipe. Does this mean I'm running rich? This is the first time it's ever done this since I had the pipe and jetting changed. Could it have something to do with it being 95 degrees out?

I don't know much of anything about the DS, but I do know it is a gas powered engine. Any gas powered enging with the timing advanced too far will continue to run like that for a few seconds. Retard your timing a bit and you should be fine.

You cannot adjust ignition timing on the DS.

Does it do this when you flip the kill switch on the bars, or just when you turn the key off without hitting the kill switch? The radiator fan acts as a tiny generator, feeding just enough power back through the wiring as it coasts to stop to allow the plug to fire a few more times before dying - if the fan is actually running when you turn the key off without flipping the kill switch. The fact that it is 95 degrees leads me to think this is the case because your fan is more likely to be running.

I think you nailed it. The fan was running quite a bit.

Yep, mine does this when it's hot as well.
