Is it just me or are these damn Tachs not calibrated correctly. Maybe I am not paying close enough attention but I can seem to hit 8500 rpm for some reason, or for that matter 8000rpm. This by the way is under load.

I dont watch mine that much, but I know this past weekend I was hitting just over 8000 rpm. I think that I was running slightly rich also.

Maybe they are not calibrated correctly, but I thought they were made by autometer and their stuff is usually pretty good.

Might be something else.

I had my tach (same one as on the Baja) well before I got my CDI, and it showed my rev limiter coming on at exactly 7700. For this reason, I feel mine is dead on calibration.

When I had a woods CDI box and pipe, the RPMs would sweep all the way to 10,000 RPM if jetted correctly.

Incidently, with the turbo and another woods CDI box, I am having trouble with upper RPMs, but I think it is a fuel supply problem in my case.

My EFI is reporting roughly the same RPM as the Tach.

Thank you for your ideas. I think I may be jetted a little rich and this could be effecting my rpm's. Elliot was telling me today that I should probably been running a 142.5 at St, Anthony but with the 147.5 I had in there my plugs looked pretty lean. He said these Rotax motors always look lean on the plugs. He recommended instead to clean off the pipe cap and run it for a while and check the color. He said it should be a medium to light colored gray, not black. So I think I will give this a try. Thanks again.
