Greetings,
I seem to have developed a nasty habit of flipping my DS while doing doughnuts and wheelies and what-not. Always my fault, but that is beside the point. Everytime I invert the quad, it fires back up and I can ride for a few minutes and then it stalls out. I sit and let it rest a while and then it fires back up and runs fine for a few minutes and then stalls again. This happens for awhile and then the problem goes away. Does anybody know what causes this and how to fix it,(besides not flipping it!) I think it must have to do with the carb float or the fuel system getting air or a bubble or something in it, but I am mystified. Anybody that has had a similar episode please respond!

Is your oil light coming on when you flip it back upright? If it is let it sit for about 5 minutes so the oil can get back into the crankcase. The 2000 & 2001 DS's had a problem with the oil not getting back into the case with out first bleeding the air valve in the oil filter compartment. The new Baja has a correction for this but you should always take the time to make sure the light is off and to also let that oil get back down. You may also be getting a air bubble in your Carb until it can bleed itself out. And last but not least stop flipping the darn thing!! LOL Good Luck and let me know.

Angry,

Oil light does not come on, it just runs fine for a few minutes and then starts to "psuedo" backfire, by that I mean it just starts to cough sort-of, but not really bang, and then quits for about ten minutes. Then were off and running for a few more etc. etc. I got it home and parked it, and by the next day the problem had gone away. Every time she's been upside down it has been the same identical thing happening. And yes, I will stop inverting it (on the ground at least), my wife says if she see's the tires pointed at the sky one more time, the thing is going bye bye! So I really gotta be careful!

That also happens to me, when I come down from a long wheelie, and I also have a 2002 Baja model. Just let it rest, then fire her back up, always worked for me!

I wonder if you guys are getting gas in the gas tank breather line? Causing a fuel shortage.....
The way the breather line wraps around it could easily trap gas for awhile

You know the best thing to do is get an aftermarket fuel cap that is vented. DS aholic has one, I beleive it is the Billet one from Alba, but I am sure someone else has to make a cheaper O.E.M. style one somewhere.
