I have a 01 ds, I was wondering what would I have to buy to make the steering not so loose. I was thinking some new A-Arms or a steering dampener.

Make sure you have the suspension set properly.......when I ajusted the shocks F&R, it made a world of difference... try that before you spend extra $$$ that you may not have to spend.

01 Black
graydon exhaust and nerfs
dyno 185 jet with k&n filter and outwear
holeshots f&r

Thanks for the suggestion but it has been really loose since day one. I tightened the from suspension a lot for jumping and it is still really loose, I can mostly tell in loose sand and dirt.
Any suggestion are very appreciated!!

Thanks Nick

You biggest problem right now is the tow adjustment. The tow changes as the suspension compresses and rebounds, so adjustments to the shocks and different rider weights effect it also.
You need to set the tow to be 1/8" tow-out with your weight on the seat in normal riding position AFTER you have the shocks how you want them and most of your problems will go away.

he'll still have to set toe right, even with the aftermarket arms, so he might as well see how well it will handle with the stock arms first, instead of giving all the handling credit to the new arms. The caster is less than ideal, but not as bad as a lot make it out to be - everybody who has ever ridden my DS could swear it has aftermarket arms, but it doesn't - its just set up well, with good handling tires. Even those crappy dominators contribute to the some of the sensitivity in the steering.

I did eveything i could to my arms, but the after market a-arms are way better in my opinion. The after market a-arms have way more adjustment points and they are lighter than the stockers that alone makes them better! I guess it all depends on what the person wants. Your right hightower he should adjust his a-arms first like your and then go from their.

Sand45 - what brand arms did you get? I know there are a few companies making them now, and I've been wondering how the new Strong Arms are.
