need help with rear shock.
#1
I was trying to chase down a squeek in the rear shock and found that the shock bolts where bent so after getting new ones and begining the reasembly proses i bumped the rezi hose where it conects to the shock and a bunch of oil shot out. It was loose. and in the proces of tightening it a bunch more shot out. now i need to have them refilled and charged with nitrogen. Is there any type of local shop that may be capable of charging the nitrogen if i get more oil in it. I know i heard some where that some welding shops may be able to. I realy dont want to have to ship it off to be redone and have to sit forever. The other thing i noticed is that the axle bearings have just enough woble in them to just notice it at the end of the axle when pulling up and down. Is this normal or is it time to replace them? The axle moves probobley 3/16 +- of an inch at the hub. Is there an aftermarket bearing that is better than stock this machine is not even a year old. I dont want to do this every year. Thanks for any info.

Hey 99... I have a suggestion for you. I found that none of the dealers in Arizona could correctly service the rear shock. So to make sure your dealer does it correctly, ask them what nitrogen pressure they used on the shock. All of the dealers around here said between 75 and 500 psi. I called Bombardier and they e-mailed me a letter showing 300psi nitrogen service. The 300psi made a world of differance on how the quad handled.
I hope this helps!

300psi of nitrogen is typical for all rezzy shocks - Honda, Yam, etc., and the DS shop manual also calls for 300psi. most bike shops (dirt or street)charge $10 for charging. Its just a tank with regualator set at 300psi, with the right fitting on the hose for your rezzy. Most welding shops have no use for nitrogen.
About the axle bearings - they are very durable, much more durable than the typical bearing of other bikes. I doubt they wore out, but riding with them loose can cause damage to them. If they need replaced, this is probably why. When you tighten the axle nut, don't torque it really tight - just very snug with a strap wrench, rather than hillbilly it with a pipe wrench. then trque the locking nut/bolt.
