Unfortunately Roll Design just informed me that their Aluminum Heelguard production has been put on the backburner, but they hope to re-start again in September for the DS.

For those of you that may have missed my earlier post - Roll Design has been designing aluminum heelguards to compliment their foot pegs for the DS and the Raptor.

I'm very sorry to hear that! I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of some good, high quality heel guards that would work well with Roll Design pegs on my Baja. I wish they'd reconsider.

Hey Hightower...

Did they say why they were delaying the heel guards? Thanks for the info!

How do you guys like the Roll Design footpegs? Do they keep your feet from sliding better than the stockers? Is it worth the money to upgrade to the roll design pegs? BTW, It looks like we finally have a DS-ICON to use in your profile!

I am all so sorry to here this. I just bought the Roll Design foot peg and love the feel. I have a set of IMS heel guards on back order. I have sold my Diamond G Racing heel guards because the fit would not be clean. Just too much cutting and bending and I due not have the tools too due the work

I don't have the Roll Design pegs yet. I was planning to get them when the Roll Design heel guards were available! This stinks, because I really need to replace the stock heel guards ASAP. My paddles rub them whenever I hit the base of a dune at anything more than just moderate speed.

Do the Diamond G heel guards provide more wheel clearance than the stockers? How's the fit & finish? How do they look? The pictures on the Diamond G web site make them look horrible! What do you say? Thanks!

They didn't tell me why the production of the heelguards has been detained, but they did sound as though they were hopeful to have them by september.

I love the pegs - they are absolutely awesome. Its hard to come off the $$$ to get them, but now that I've used them for 6 months, I can't imagine life without them. Three rungs of teeth that are actually sharp instead of rounded like the stockers. Big kick-up on the end to keep foot where it belongs, and you can push against it for more sliding in corners. Made of polished stainless steel, super strong.

Everybody e-mail them with your interest, and they'll be more likely to get them to us by september. Roll Design e-mail

Hey Hightower...

How do you attach heel guards to the Roll Design pegs? Do you still have the stock heel guards or something else? Thanks!

I still have the stock heel guards.

I made a bracket by cutting a chunk out of the stock foot peg, and bolting it on with the lower rear peg mount bolt. Then I bolted the rod to it (using factory original holes in the peg material). This is some really strong steel - used a die grinder to cut. Just the rod closest to the inside - I left the rod that used to bolt under the peg on the outside off, and actually cut it off flush with where it comes out from under the plastic of the heelguard. This lets the guard and fender flex a little easier in the event of a wipeout, reducing chances of breaking, yet its still really sturdy and practical.

It all looks really good and professional - wish I could send a picture - no digital camera.

How thew heck are your Paddles hitting your heel guards! I just got the 22" Extremes and the only time I hit is when i Bottom out at the base of a dune. They just barely rub on the very outside corners. There is at least 2 to 3 inches of clearance form the main part of the guard. Try just trimming off the ends.

I just heard from the guys at Diamond G Racing that they are in the process of modifying their heel guards for the Bomb. According to Donald Grimes at Diamond G:

"We are currently redesigning them to be a little smaller and to work with the Roll design pegs as well as the stock pegs and will have them back in stock shortly."

So now I guess it's a race to see who makes them available first. As I understand it, the current Diamond G heel guards are high quality and very strong. I hope the new ones are out soon...
