Hey guys finally got organized and made it out to 1/4 mile paved drag strip today. I was the first Quad to run on the strip in Calgary, Alberta. When I first got to the trck in the morning no one would believe me that I was racing my Quad. The NHRA Tech inspectors knew about the class, but were a little gun shy on what to look for. They did not have a copy on the rules for atv's. Good thing I brought my copy. The only thing they had a problem with is not having sometype of chain guard for the rear. They also sent me home to get my full leather jacket. I was only allowed to run the 1/8 mile because I still have dirt tires on the rear. The track had done a bunch of pavement prep, so the surface was very sticky.
Did a little burnout out in first gear and went to the line. A different feeling launching as hard as you can on pavement. My first recation time was .609 - not bad for a first timer. Did 10.149in the 1/8 @ 63.43 MPH.
My second time up I did a long burnout in 2nd gear and launched even harder. Lost site on the pavement for a moment so I had to let off and get back into it. Ran 10.44 @ 62.88 MPH with a recation time of .584. Wheele bar is going to be the next mod. The last and bast run of the day I ran 9.91 @ 65.52 MPH with a recation time of .546.
I made about 6 passes throughout the day and had a lot of fun for $35.00. If you are close to an NHRA track you have to give it a try once, it was a hoot. I was the biggest hero of the day with all the little kids at the track.
Sorry for draging out the story, just had to share my day with you guys.
