Once again I will ask this question here as you Bomb guys know your stuff. It will be helpful for other DS guys who might be interested as well.

Stock gearing for a Rator is 3.076 13/40 sprockets. How do you calculate in for tire size? 18" 20" 22" etc?

Stock tire size is 20" If a person was to change tire size that also changes the gearing. How do you calculate the tire size in with the sprockets to get an accurate gearing for your setup? TIA

Go to Marky Narks website. He has a gearing Calulator that you can play with. It will let you enter just about every conceivable gearing senario(including tire size) and will give you MPH in each gear.VERY COOL!

Thanks Biggerisbetter. Been there done that. Thats what I used to figure the gearing I was useing previously with the 22" tires was basicaly equal to what my stock gearing with 20" tires was. Useing MPH as a guide. I was hoping to get the actual gearing numbers for reference as well.

sorry, unless you actually modify the script for the gearing calculator, it is only set-up for the ds gearbox ratios. will not give correct readings for the rappy.

I often wondered the same thing myself, yet I have never seen it expressed as a number. To get the torque multiplication at the wheels you multiply the (peak engine torque) X tranny gear X final drive ratio, but this is also affected by the tire size because the lower the tire size the more torque multiplication you get. I guess you could just sdo it as a percentage. For example, going from a 20" to a 22" would be a 9% drop in torque multiplication.

If you have the shop manual I believe it has the gear ratios and final drive ratios listed. Once you have those, go HERE

Hey bro......
I re-wrote the scrip and put it on your video page. I added the raptor, banshee, and z400. The pics of each quad take a second to load on each visit. But you don't need to wait for them to use the calculator.
Incase anyone else wants to try it out you'll need to use IE as your browser. It's in VBScrip and Netscape doesn't support it.
Im better at VBScrip than I am at JavaScript so that my excuse.
Enjoy.

Yes, I enetered the Raptor information to get my readings. My brother has since made a program for our computers to give the same info for the Rator, DS, Z400 and Banshee. Just click the bike you want modify the front, rear sprockets and tire size and you have your information. I'd like the actual gearing information over MPH however. Thanks.

Thanks Rocky, Thanks also Kawasakikid. I tried the web page you suggested but its not coming up. I'll try again later.

I guess I should read the whole page before responding LOL. I could answer everyone in one post that way. I'll check out the web page bro and see how it works.

I just found out that the info for the stock z400 that I got off the net was bogus. So the z400 stck speeds are not correct. Besides It only ahas 5 gears not six.
I'll fix it soon as I get the correct info though.
