My taillight never works for more than a period of minutes!! I tried the LED in the tailight ... well i ran one out in the dunes this weekend and it did not even make it till the sun went down, when i took the light off the whole LED assembly was all apart everywhere, it like 15 pieces, do i ride harder than average or something?? Even the LED cant hold up? what to do?

The LED's are voltage and amp sensive, the out put from the stator to the tail light was in excess of what the LED could take. That's why with my tail lights I have to have a voltage regultor internal to the assembly. This will not allow more voltage than what the LEDs can take. For a pic of the lights Tail Light

You would have to figure the output of the stator at max RPM and than do your own voltage reduction calcultions.

The DS 650 is in this weeks production run, it should be ready to ship next Wen. You'll have to PM me for more details.

DPGRDI,

Stupid question, but is everything mounted correctly in the light? I have never taken mine apart, but maybe the light fixture is somehow loose and allowing the light to get beat around inside?

A couple of people on here have changed out the stock taillight and have a real LED taillight assembly - maybe that would work better for you in the long run? The pics I saw of the LED tail light assembly looked pretty decent, I don't recall the specs or what it cost.

That is a cool light smitty. I want one that blinks "14mins" for all to read at FSW's on the way to the top of the hill.

Dude, that really sucks. i was like you - I couldn't keep a tailight bulb in mine for nothing, but I've had the LED bulbin her for 6 months now and she still works great.
Maybe it was like a faulty piece of crap bulb or something?

Part of the problem is the large bulb in there, it is leveraged out alot and that big four strokes may be setting some harmonic to cause it to break.

Just a thought.
