Who starts in what gear, and what is your gearing?
I start in 1st, with 16/40 stock gearing, and do fairly well. I do much worse if I start in 2nd, but a lot of you guys start in 2nd. How, and why?

You just reminded me to order that 15T sprocket so it is here for next weekend. Your weight has a lot to do with it too. I would think with a 15 tooth you wouldn't think twice about using second to launch in. The torque multiplication there should do it for you. What was the name of the place that gave you the price on the Lectron carb? Do you have their number as well? Thanks

I usually start in 1st if I'm running my 22-11-10 10 extreem haulers and 2nd with 22-11-9 Holeshots. It usually dosn't matter if I am using a 15 or 16 tooth front with 40 rear sprockets. Alot depends on the traction available at that time. I'm about 210 lbs so where I am on the seat makes a differance too.

For the carb check Fast by Gast. I think they told me it was like 265 for the carb but you need a new thumb throttle and cable that is like a extra 150 of so.

I'm gonna get a 15T too, and try that out. I think it'll also help me on the trails so I can stay in 2nd gear more often without having to drop to first as much on the technical terrain.

FastbyGast, hyperlinked above by dsaholic, quoted me $230 for the Lectron 44mm set up for the DS. I'm told the stock thumb throttle can be modified to work but it'll be ugly afterwards. Those aftermarket billet throttles have enough travel, but are aweful pricy.

I should've specified 100yrd drags, sorry. In my experiences dragging raptors, if I get the holeshot I win the race. If I don't get the holeshot then I'm hard pressed to take it by the end of 300ft. Starting in 2nd gives me no chance at a holeshot, but I'll play with gearing and see what happens.

How much are the billet throttles and is there any other alternatives. I'm interested in buying the carb but don't want to spend $100 plus on just a throttle cable.

It is not just the cable it is the whole throttle assembly that is new. I think that a twist throttle will work with the lectron but I am not sure. I bought the whole set up from jbomb and it works great now that I have it dialed in or at least real close.

taxi - I'm with you, not gonna drop almost as much for a throttle as I do for the carb. I haven't found an alternative to the billet throttle yet, but there has to be something.
