Default just finished oil change...why is oil milky now??

Hey guys~
I just finished a three week long cleanup of my DS and also did an oil change. I drained the oil about two weeks ago and just filled it up tonight. After running the motor for about a minute, I checked the dipstick and the oil was milky!?? I shined a light down into the oil tank and there are white bubbles on the oil. Could there have been some condensation built up over the two weeks without oil in the engine? What else would cause the oil to become milky? Thanks for any replies.

You have water in your oil it could be a blown head gasket or the seals around the water pump. Check your water pump first it is a known problem and easy to fix.

Thanks Bill. I just don't understand why the oil I drained out was completely clean but the new oil became milky after just a minute of running it. Would it seem likely that the water pump seal went out in the time there was no oil in the motor? I think I'm going to try changing the oil first to see if there was just some water somewhere in the lines.

I would check the seals first. I wouldn't waste any more new oil until checking it.They are easy to replace. You will need to oder a new water pump shaft,2 -seals at the least. Here's helpful info..DS water-pump info....

mine did the same thing. I changed the oil to a semi- synthetic and my first ride it turned all milky. I changed the water pump seals and shaft and went back to regular oil and it fixed the problem. My seals were shot and the shaft had wear lines on it.The reason I went back to regular oil was the price. I didn't know if it was fixed and I didn't want to waist the good stuff.Good luck

I just drained the coolant and pulled the cover off the water pump. There are grooves on the inside of the cover where the impeller was rubbing it. Would that be a good sign that the seals are gone? I'll be going to the dealership tomorrow and would like to order the parts I will need.
