I don't think you're going to hurt your stator. If you've ever ridden a 2-stroke, you know what happens to your lights when your stator is putting out less wattage than required. It is hard on a battery that is not designed for deep-cycle to be completely drained. However, I think someone on this forum said the stator puts out 290w at 3600RPM, which isn't very high for a quad motor when you're riding. If you do a lot of slow night riding (which would drain the battery) you probably don't need 200 watts of lights anyway. But if you're hammering through the dunes, keeping that battery charged shouldn't be a problem.
