dual carbs

I guess I should have said that I was considering the Lectrons and am talking to a couple of folks about them, For all the different altitudes that I ride at (sea level, 4000', 5000', 6000' and 8500') I need carbs that are better for tuneing, BillDS650 you say that all the controls are on the outside for the Quicksilver? I'll give Edlebrock a call Monday and try to get a handle on clearence for the Quicksilver, Thanks.
JEFFROE, Thanks, I don't have much time riding with these carbs, and I was nursing a F'ed up back out at Little Sahara so no jumping to speak of, Jeff would know better than I, I've seen photo's of him airing it out pretty good but haven't heard of any problems. I had no problems with the way it was running other than the front end coming up on any little bump, this motor is easy on gas.
Jeffinrivercity, Mikunis....hhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm do they have the jets in the bowl like the Keihins? Thanks

went to team pami.com and looked at the twin carb set-up they have, looks like there one piece twin carbs w/single feed fuel, one pull cable and they look very compact? it does'nt say what size they are or much more than a picture, i emailed with questions will let you know what they say.

This is what Pami told me..................
Only 10-15% of my customers choose the Keithin carbs, even for
the "roadrace" guys they are to nervous; means they react on each
modification and it `s really hard to find the "best set up".
In contrast to this the Mikuni carb are always good (you only need
3 main jets for the whole world - for the Keithins you need minimum
10 mains jets, 5 needles a.s.o.) and in the end the Mikunis costing
half the money.
A lot of power we found by building a large airbox; the stacks are
sucking out of the box and the lid of the box are two (flat) paper
filters or K&N`s. Have a look at our webside, there you could find the
Mikuni carbs with two (differnet long) carbon stacks.
I`m yet preparing two rally motors for Rotax/Bombardier to run that
big rally "Paris - Dakar" end of this year with a DS 650, rider is
a "wild guy" from South Africa - Vicus van Deventer. This ATV should
have such an airbox (dual Mikuni carbs) - at the dyno we found min 4Hp
with this solution. I don`t believe that the box will be available soon,
maybe a few months after that race.
Think about the stacks, to have the filters direct at the carbs is no good
solution.

I have tached to 10k,all too often....You really don't nead too
I tried a CDI with a 9k limiter, and found I hit it,way to often!(first 3 shifts )I have ajusted my shift points after that, and I dont feel I lose anything.
In dyno tests the power starts dropping after 8400 RPM's
Jeff
JEFFROE..your right the torque is incredible.......

here are some pics I posted awhile ago of my 39mm install, I would think that the side pull is easier to deal with than the center pull. If I remember vegas650 found his dual 39's for under 6 bills, Like Jeff says, they do kick butt but somebody needs to try the Mikunis and let us know how well they do.

I notice that in the email from Team Pami they say that a carburetor mounted air filter is not a good solution since there is no velocity stack. I'm surprised no one has picked up on this. I've heard this is essential to getting good power. As it was explained to me, a velocity stack is a tube/tunnel that the air passes through going from the filter to the carburetor which is progressively smaller as it gets closer to the carburetor. The stock DS tube between the stock airbox & carburetor does this, however it also collapses. It seems to me a well designed velocity stack (maybe a custom air box as well or...?) could be very beneficial to the performance of the machine. I know if someone designed one that fit the stock carburetor I'd buy it.
