I was wondering the exact same thing. According to the web cams site they recomend the sprigs. But It's not required. They also recomend a High comp piston. Again not required. Until you get to the race cams do they require you to get the valve spring kits.

I ran with sport cams and the only problem I found was with valve float. On gas not a problem, but when Im on alky and can rev alot more there is some float. I felt a big difference installing the heavy duty springs but only above 8k. Just my experiance

my thought was i could put the sports cams in my wifes bike without taking the engine apart. she likes all the edge that she can get when she races. i geared her at 15-42 and she comes out of the hole great ( only two flips so far) but she says she lost some of her top speed, i ask her if she had a speedo.

Hurycne, so this wasn't a problem until you went on alky? so it would be ok with gas?

maybe you guys can help me decide on what cam and piston setup to get.ive got the 45mm carb but not on the bike yet.i may stay with the stock carb but dont know yet.i love to trail ride, play in the sand ,and want to be able to drag, but i dont want a full blown race set up.i want to go as high as i can on the compression ratio but stay on pump gas and keep the reliability as high as possible also.so i guess what im saying is i dont want it hopped up to where i cant just cruise at low speeds.please help.

Im running the 45 carb and 11.5:1 piston. No cams. I do lots of desert ridding and trail ridding with this set up on pump gas. And it runs great. I also drag race when at the dunes. I hold my own pretty well.
I will be adding cams though. Prolly the Web Cam 110 grind. That way I can still do my trail ridding as well as run a good drag race.
