Default Mod Question

Hi everyone I'am new to the forum but have been reading it for a few months and I have 2 questions. I'm planning what mods to due I currently have a white bros E series pipe and K&N with jet kit also alba upper A-arms. I'm planning on spending a little over $1000.00 on mods I was thinking either a Trinity Exhaust and 45M Carb and manifold or TCS shocks, what is your opinion. My second question is due shocks make a big difference I ride mainly in the woods in new york I'am not lucky enough to have dunes.Thanx for helping out a newbie.

Spend the money on a Pipe $250. CDI $270 for the last 500 you can either get the 45 carb or you can get jets for your current carb, they are only 45$ then you have more money for other mods. Other mods like cool skid plates from pro armor, or a gas rack from Armadillo. Possibly better tires also.

I would go with the shocks if you go for long hard rides any thing over 15 to 30 minutes. In the later stages of your ride the TCS shocks will be working great were the stock ones will begin to fade

If you want to save money keep your White Bros E Series you will not pick up more power till you get cams H/C pistons and big bore. For the carb I would go with the 42mm carb from Ron Wood. If Edelbrock would go into production with the QS I would pick it. The 42mm will give you better throttle response and rev higher. On the shocks you can buy the fronts and have the rear rebuilt

If you are going to ride mainly in the woods the 42 will have better low too upper mid range power and throttle response. Both the Mikuni and the Edelbrock will flow more air than the stock carb. At full open throttle the butterfly restricts flow and creates power-robbing turbulence. At partly open throttle airflow goes thru a smaller opening for better fuel atomization & great throttle response in low-end. The throttle response is even more improved because you control the slide with the throttle and not using a vacuum too rise and close the slide.

Default Mod Question

how much is the 42 vrs 45?
How do they compair to the stock dyno jetted 42bsr? I am not looking to get .0001 of a second. I just want low to mid range power as I too am a woods/prarie rider... Is it a big enough differance to justify a new carb?? I noticed a big differance with pipe and jets. Soon to get the CDI in april.

Default Mod Question

The first Edelbrock I had was 40mm and which works just as good as the 42mm Mikuni. It was like adding the pipe to the DS. I had a larger usable RPM range; I could due a wheelie very easy. In fact the first time I took off hard in first gear I all most flip it in place. I had the gas tank in my face and had not moved an inch. The first pipe I had was the Alba kit it max out at 43.9 hp the Edelbrock added 2 more hp on top and 5 more at mid range rpm. It still was making hp at the stock rev limiter. I have made too many changes at one time to get good reading on hp improvement but I am getting there quicker.
