No it's not too wide for trails. Never been somewhere a raptor or other quad went and was unable to follow (or lead the way). I think the DS is 6 inches wider than the raptor, it's not that often you'll get in a situation where 6 inches makes or breaks you. Sure there are places like that, but that's no reason not to buy a DS. Go look at / test drive all the quads you want, and buy the one you like best. I tested the DS, KFX400, and Raptor. DS felt the most stable and comfortable, not to mention you can just look at it and tell it is built to last.

If you like going fast on the trails the DS-650 is the machine to get. If you like to jump on a track, stay away. Its fast, handles excellent, and is very comfortable to ride for a sport machine. I love mine and have ridden many other quads. I can last about 20 minutes on a 400ex before wanting to get off, but i ride all day on my DS.

it may not be the best mx quad, but I think it's great for jumps! It soaks up the landings. I get spoiled by the DS...I rode a guy's piped z400 and I wanted my quad back after no time at all when I missed the power of the DS and I thought I was gonna lose some fillings out of my teeth
