Default Chain tightening/Roller

Ok, well I can't find my book, so I need to know the steps it takes to tighten the chain.

I also fried my chain roller this last weekend, the plastic is actually melted all over the bolt. I've heard of using roller blade wheels or something, so I need to know what I can use for it. I'm not wanting to spend $30 just for a little piece of rubber/plastic. Thanx for the help guys.

sounds like the chain is to tight? when mine is tight it rides on the roller. it is suppost to be 7/8 inch slack when you are sitting on the quad. there was a thread a few days ago on chain adjustment.

When I got my DS the chain roller was toast. I wanted to go riding, so I found a rollerblade wheel and stuck it in there. It was really too big, but it worked for a while. Now I have a skateboard wheel, and it seems to be working perfectly. They only came in a pack of four though, so I didn't really save any money, just got more spares than I'll ever need.

Did you guys ever get a clickity clack sound when you slow down?

I am using a skateboard wheel temporarily and I think my chain migh be alittle tight.

When I start to slow down I hear a clickity clack noise coming from the front sprocket.

Didnt notice anything unusual about the sprocket on examination though

Bajads650, to tighten the chain loosen the bolts on the rear hub. Loosen each bolt a little bit and then do the other to keep from hurting your axle carrier. once loosend take a dowl pin or a screw driver and stick it through the 1/4 inch whole on the sprocket and through the whole on the axle carrier on the swingarm. It may take a pushing forward or pulling on the fourwheeler to align the wholes. It took me a few minutes to fiqure it out cause the pic in the ds manual was confusing. Once you have the screw driver in the wholes push the bike forward or backward to tighten or loosen the chain. Best to have someone set on the bike whos close to your weight so you only have to do it once. Tighten the carrier bolts the same way you losened them.
