hey bigdaddy,

did you try to start it up with the throttle disconnected just to see how it was acting? i am running a 45 pilot in mine when i said 70 i was thinking of the power jet i think i had some jetting problems with mine but not anything like what you are haveing. you should be able to go to your local harley shop to get a 45 pilot for it. the TM45 is a harley carb. your plug could be fouled from running it with the choke. the local guy at the shop told me i shouldn't start it with the choke or let it warm up that way cause it would cause the plugs to foul. just to much fuel and not enough air. i still think your slide it stuck open just a lil bit, or you have missed a vacuum line some where. like i said try and start it up and run it with out the throttle linkage and see how she acts and if it is better then you have a bind some were in the cable or you just have it miss adjusted.

got the 45 pilot and finally achieved idle. It is still way to rich. I also ran the thing with out the throttle cable hooked up to the horn. No difference. I have completely ruled out the throttle cable. When I put the 45 pilot in, I could achieve idle but it doesn't idle nicely. The only way to get it to idle (badly) was to turn the adle adjustment screw almost all the way in. The air screw is about 3 1/2 turns out and after that it does make any difference how much further it goes out.

I took it for a test drive and the thing has ALOT of power and snap off the bottom end, however going down the road a 1/4 throttle, the bike sputters and pops. Full throttle seems to have NO END!

I have neglected to tell you all something cause I didn't think it would matter. The pilot hole had been drilled out for alky, and we (SAMCOEDS and I) figured that the idle circuit is meter throught pilot jet and not the pilot hole. Could it be that with the hole drilled slightly bigger that I'll need to go with even a smaller pilot jet?

On my way back from my test ride, I held it at 1/4 - 1/3 throttle and for about 100 yards and then killed the motor. I brought it back and check the plug. The plug was very fouled. Not wet, but black none the less - carbon fouled.

???????????????HELP???????????????????

EDIT>>>> oh, and it's a 150 main. Not a 155.

EDIT>>>> forget about the drilled pilot thing. I was incorrect.

Stock. Just put a 37.5 pilot in and it didn't change anything from the 45 pilot. Barely idles and sputters going into the throttle easy... Top end feels good.

I just don't know what to do.

HELP!

man that seems weird i am trying to think what else you could have that could be causeing it. only other thing that i can think of is that you have a vaccuum line that isn't hooked up or one that is and shouldn't be. my only other thought would be to get woods on the phone and tell them what you are doing and what you have got done and see if they can help at all.

good luck.

wait one darn minute. I that's the second time I've read something about a vacume line. What gives? I've got two lines on this carb. One is right on the bottom of the carb and is very small. I believe that is the bowl overflow line. The other is a larger grey line that comes out of the carb a little higher than the intake opening, or at least towards the top, and is on the clutch side of the bike. that doesn't need to go to anything does it???? I didn't have anything hooked up to the stock carb....

Could that be it. It just looks like a vent line.....
