I have tought about it just in case all electrics go out like if you blew a fuse or your rectifier decided to die out and your battery was dead it would be nice to have a back up kick start to get you home.

DS's do have a backup start... put it in 2nd gear, pick up the back end than run and drop the back end down! works good for me

yes,

we call that push-starting. Try pulling in the clutch on 1st, push it as fast as you can then release the clutch...should start...Haven't tried it on a DS but usually works.

dunno..but a kickstarter wouldn't help worth poo then would it? Kickstart is just another way of turning the engine, just like push-starting or recoil...all the same.

A DS650 wont run with a dead battery. Believe me, I had to walk accros a lake because of this, and got stranded in the middle of the night.

Back to my point, a kickstarter wouldn't help anything.

Correct??

I was thinking that a kickstarter wouldn't be very helpful because it would be INCREDIBLY hard to kick over.

Based on experience with a dead Raptor, you're not going to push start one either. 650+ cc's won't turn over in first gear. Tow starting with another quad and using a higher gear is the trick.

I don't know if a DS will run with a dead battery or not. I'll take PUSHIN's word on that one.
